Hopefully back to winning ways with this tasty little 5-fold:

Crystal Palace v Ipswich @ 5/6
Sheff Wed v Charlton @ 8/11
Bradford v Accrington @ 4/7
Wycombe v Grimsby @ 4/9
Rangers v Falkirk @ 1/5

£4 @ 8.88

Bet 7 Result

Leyton Orient 1-4 Sheff Utd
Forfar 6-1 Forres Mechanics
Man Utd 1-0 Wigan
Palace 2-1 Leicester
Newcastle 0-1 Hull

So Newcastle let me down for a nice little payout. Reminded me why I never bet in games involving 'The Toon'.

Profit/Loss for the blog is now practically back to square 1. :--(

Bet 6

Tonight I'm backing a real outsider, just going with my instincts here. I'm betting on the game onvolving MK Dons and Colchester and can see GOALS. For this reason I have decided to bet on their being a hat-trick scored.

Bet: Hat-trick scored? Yes - £2 @ 32.00

Bet 5 Result

Wigan 1-0 Tottenham

In a game that neither team looked like winning, Wigan snatched it in injury time makin the bet a loser.

Bet 5

The first game on Sky tomorrow see's Tottenham travel to the JJB Stadium to take on Steve Bruce's Wigan. Although Wigan are higher in the table and are at home, I am taking a punt on Tottenham to be victorious in this game. They played very well in the 2nd half midweek against Burnley and with Jermaine Defoe likely to play, I think the price on a Tottenham win is decent value. I can see Tottenham winning a few games in the coming weeks and will be watching their games with interest.

Bet: Wigan v Tottenham @ 3.05

Stake: £3

Bet 3 and 4 (and result)

I have been extremely busy the past few days and unfortunately did not get to post my 2 accumulators for the weekend before they began. I don't agree in Aftertiming at all but these 2 bets were put on legitimately yesterday lunchtime. Both accumulators fell foul to the weather reducing the number of teams in each, though this perhaps proved a blessing as both bets returned a profit. Here were the bets along with the stake and results.

Bet 3
Stake: £4
Arsenal 1-0 Bolton @ 1/3
Everton 2-0 Hull @ 8/13
Sheff Utd 1-0 Norwich @ 8/13
Leicester 3-0 Leyton Orient @ 1/3
Scunthorpe P-P Hereford @ 1/2

Returns: £18.55

Bet 4
Stake: £1
Charlton 0-2 Nottm Forest @ 8/5
Plymouth P-P Crystal Palace @ 8/5
Dagenham P-P Wycombe @ 6/4

Returns: £2.60

Bet 2 Result

Another losing bet compounds a poor start. After thinking of back Under 2.5 goals I changed my mind at the last minute (big mistake!). Unfortunately Derby won the game 1-0 thanks to a wonder goal and so the bet was a loser.

Bet 2

I am hoping that Bet 2 will bring our first winner at 'Free Monet'. I have decided to bet on tonights clash at Pride Park between Derby County and Manchester United. Manchester United have kept 7 clean sheets in a row and appear to have a watertight defence. I would be surprised to see this breached tonight against Derby County who are struggling in The Championship. I have therefore gone for:

Manchester United Clean Sheet: £5 @ 1.89

Bet 1 Result

The Histon-Swansea game was called off so my bet immediately changed from a 6-fold to a 5-fold. From the 5-fold, 4 won and Celtic drew 2-2 (after being 2-0 up) so the bet was a LOSS.

Profit/Loss: (£3)

Bet 1

It's FA Cup weekend, a time for short price 'certs' to ruin many an accumulator. A stupid time to bet for the serious gambler, but I'm in. I have gone for a 6-fold accumulator to start the year off (Selections appear in Bold):

Arsenal v Plymouth @ 1/7
Histon v Swansea @ 8/15
Middlesbrough v Barrow @ 1/6
West Ham v Barnsley @ 4/11
Wycombe v Bury @ 4/5
Celtic v Dundee @ 2/7

I generally don't like betting on really short odds but you don't get a lot of choice on FA Cup 3rd round day. I have added the League 2 clash between Wycombe v Bury as I think Wycombe are a decent price to continue their march into League 1.

Stake: £3
Odds: 6.45 (approx 11/2 for the fractional odds fans!)
Potential Return: £19.36

Official Charity

Af good friend of mine who is running a similar blog at http://betfairlays.blogspot.com/ has decided to kindly donate all profit from his betting to charity.

In a similar but less generous move, I plan to donate 10% of all profit in 2009 from this blog to Macmillan Cancer Support . To find out more about them, please click here: http://www.macmillan.org.uk/

An extra incentive to try and finish in profit!

A few NYE Bets

Not really going to count these in my profit/loss for the year but wagered a couple of bets with a pal last night.

Hull to be relegated: £1 @ 19.00
Arsenal to finish in the top 4: £5 @ 3.00

Look out for my weekend bet on the FA Cup.
